Is an online TRT service legit? How to check one
A legitimate testosterone service in Canada prescribes through a physician or nurse practitioner licensed in your province, requires blood work first, and fills the prescription at a licensed Canadian pharmacy. You can check most of that yourself before paying: whether the service names its company, its clinicians and its pharmacy, and whether that pharmacy is on the provincial register. The table below gives the results of the same checks for every service this site tracks.
Six things to check before you pay
- The company. Is the business that runs the service named, with a Canadian operator? A brand name alone is not a company.
- The prescriber. Does it say what kind of clinician prescribes? Only physicians and, where the province allows, nurse practitioners can prescribe testosterone. Both can be looked up on their provincial college's register.
- The pharmacy. Does it name the pharmacy that fills the prescription, with a licence or accreditation number? If it does, search that number on the provincial college of pharmacists register. Each province's register is linked from its access page.
- Blood work. Does it require morning blood tests before prescribing? Testosterone deficiency is diagnosed from blood tests together with symptoms, as the assessment page explains.
- The prices. Does it publish what it charges, including medication, renewals and what is not included? The costs page sets out what each part costs.
- Where it ships from. A licensed Canadian pharmacy ships within Canada. Ordering testosterone by mail from outside Canada is not legal, as the legal status page explains.
The same checks, service by service
"Nothing to check" means the service names no pharmacy or publishes no licence number, so there is nothing to look up. It is not a finding that the service is unlicensed. Each service's full record, with its sources and dates, is on the providers page.

Switching to another service
- Tell the new prescriber what you take now. Seeking a testosterone prescription from a new prescriber without disclosing what you obtained from another prescriber in the previous 30 days is an offence under section 4(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Bring your records. Ask for copies of your recent blood test results, or download them from your lab's patient portal, and note the product, strength, dose and date of your last fill.
- Ask about blood work. Ask the new service whether it accepts recent results, and how recent, or orders its own tests first.
- Ask about the prescription. From 1 October 2026 the Controlled Substances Regulations allow a pharmacist to transfer a testosterone prescription to another pharmacy where the province permits it. Ask both pharmacies how they handle it.
- Plan the timing. Arrange the first fill with the new service before your supply runs out, so there is no gap and no overlap.
- Close the old account. Cancel any subscription or renewal so you are not charged again, and check the cancellation terms first; several services do not publish them.
- Run the six checks above on the new service before you pay.
Warning signs
- Testosterone sold without a prescription, or "no blood work needed".
- Shipping from outside Canada.
- No company, clinician or pharmacy named anywhere on the site.
- Results figures, rankings or "number one" claims with no stated source.
Health Canada has seized testosterone sold online and in stores without authorization, and advises buying prescription drugs only from licensed pharmacies.
Common questions
How can I tell if an online TRT clinic in Canada is legitimate?
Check that it names the company that runs it, says what kind of clinician prescribes (a physician or nurse practitioner licensed in your province), names the pharmacy that fills the prescription, and that the pharmacy appears on your province's college of pharmacists register. A legitimate service requires blood work before prescribing and ships from a Canadian pharmacy.
How do I check a pharmacy's licence in Canada?
Each province's college of pharmacists publishes a register or pharmacy search, such as the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia community pharmacy list and the Ontario College of Pharmacists register. Search by the pharmacy name or licence number the service publishes. Each province's register is linked on its access page.
What are the warning signs of an illegitimate testosterone seller?
Selling testosterone without a prescription, skipping blood work, shipping from outside Canada, not naming a pharmacy or a company, and results claims with no stated source. Testosterone is a controlled drug, so selling it without a prescription or importing it by mail is not legal.
